ZHI XIN'S NOTES FOR YEAR-END SERVICE OF 2009
Verses Reference of the message : Deut 1:5-8
- It needed lesser than 40 years for the journey but due to the lack of faith in God, they took that long.
- God judged them because they went against Him.
- So all died in the wilderness except for Joseph and Caleb.
- This is the time when God came to Mt. Moreb and gave the 10 commandments.
-Before He descended, when the people was about to settle in Mt. Moreb, God told them that even though it isn't the promised land, it is good enough.
-They were too, satisfied with God's second best, so they dwelt there.
-(Deut 1:6) After a while, God told them that they have dwelt there enough and should get up, turn and walk towards the new direction (Deut 1:7) that God gave them.
- God teaches Timothy to covet (1 Tim 6:10) not after wealth and riches but instead desire to do more for God.
Footnote: Desire and Covet is of the same meaning but different in the depth of words. I forgot to take down where desire was taken from, sorry!
- (Phil 3) Paul chose to forget all his past failures even success!
-Leaving everything behind so that we won't keep looking back. Instead we look forward and go that way so that we can catch up with God and see the way that He prepared for us ahead.
SUMMARY:
- Let God be the motivation of everything you do in year 2010
- Remember to have faith and grow faith in God no matter how bad the situation is.
- What's the point? The point is that there is no point unless God's in His rightful place in your life.
- Forget with 2009 the past successes and failures, long after a deeper relationship with God.
- Don't let your growth in Christ be like that of a roundabout, nor a roller coaster ride. Let it be the long bus ride home(:
- God's telling us that we have dwelt in this spot of growth long enough, so we have to get up, turn and follow His direction for us. That is, the Bible.
REMINDERS:
Theme verse of Year 2010 -- Joel 2:12
"Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning."
It's turning to the Lord with all your heart.
Side note: This is my hand-copied notes so it may miss out a few things here and there. But it wasn't intended to be just for my reference but to help those who missed the year-end service(:
